So when Jesus died, and was ressurected, he made a promise that he would come back for us...
There was a prediction hundreds of years ago, that in December of 2012, 2 years after I graduate high school, the world will be trash. There will be earthquakes left and right, murder and terror. I'm thinking, since God knows all, he panned for Jesus to come back when this very thing happened. He would come, and save all the believers, bring them back to Heaven with him, and leave those that are not, to die in a monstrosity, that, at his time, we call planet Earth. Then when those non-believers face God on judgment day, he will stick up his nose, and say to them, "Depart from me, for I never knew you."
So, if you have any loved ones that do not know God, encourage them to seek his face, because, as far as we or they know themselves, this could be their last day, their last five minutes. So encourage them to surrender their life to the Lord, before they have to face God himself; before it's to late, and before he tells them, "Depart from me, for I never knew you."
I just recently convinced my boyfriend to go to church. During the service he got saved, and prayed to the Lord for the very first time. He got a bible, AND he reads it. He is now a BELIEvER. I convinced him to give his life to Jesus, and ask forgiveness, whenever he sins. I told him, "Unlike any other parent, if you ask forgiveness, and mean it sincerely, he will forgive and forget, and it will never be brought up again. Each time you sin, it will be as if it were your first time sinning." And that, is a WONDERFUL trade-off, walk with Jesus for the rest of the eternity, and just do what he asks of you in this life, fear him like a parent, OR, go against the almighty God, and live a life of sin, and lust, and hatred, idols, a life of Satanism, and go to the bottomless pit with blazing fire, HELL. Sounds good to me.

The 2012 prediction is based off of astrology and calculations done by cultures not associated with the bible - the mayans for one believed that there would be catastrophic events in that year because it's when their cyclical calendar ends. They based their list of years upon observations of the milky way moving through the sky, which to them was very sacred. It's not a biblical date, so there's no necessity in fearing it.
God set the skies in motion in the bible (I believe it's in genesis, before abraham's story,) for the showing of signs and seasons. There's a very good reason that there was a star in the sky to mark Jesus' birth! (History Channel's docmentary about the planet Jupiter being visible in the night sky over the first few years of Jesus' life is fascinating, especially in how it explains how the wise men followed a moving star. Jupiter was considered to be associated with kings.)
But our understanding of the end times is best guided by Jesus' words on it in Matthew 24, and the chapters in the gospels that correspond to that speech. He gave a list of things to look out for when he plans to return. Floods, Quakes, famine... they're all listed.
One of the statements that sticks out in my mind when I think of 'end times' though is that 'it'll be like the days of Noah' - where sin in the world is so strong and of a magnitude that God decides the time is ripe.
Another factor to keep in mind with God's timing is that he delays the time of his second coming for the sake of the work that we're here to do - to be like christ to the people around us, and spread his message of salvation. He wants every possible stray child to come into his loving arms before he has to wipe out the lot of 'broken mirrors' that sinners are.
If we are all created in the image of God, that is, in the image of ultimate love, then we should reflect him with a desire for the intimate knowledge of Jesus, and the healing work he can do in and through us once we accept the holy spirit. Sometimes I think the image of 'broken mirrors' is quite on-target for the person and spirit of a sinner - the image in it's facets is broken, shattered, and quite useless. It reflects all sorts of things, but not a complete image of what so many are looking for - true fulfilment.
Gyeaaahh.. here I write nearly a novel!
God puts off the second coming in the interest of saving as many as possible. We're directed to pray both for his return and the spreading of the kingdom of God, which is the new spiritual and mental life that lives in the followers of Jesus. There's a need to pray for both, and to fall in love with the Word. <3

news flash Jesus will come as a theif in the knight we have know way of telling when he will come and the mayan callender predicted the end of the world in 2012 thus the rapture is four years late and the entire book of revelations is falce oh wait God cant lie thats right meanoing mayans were wrong in their calender completely sorry mayans.
also God as commanded us to go unto the corners of the earth spreading his Word so just praying for sinners isnt enough we have to put legs on our prayers we must tell people of Jesus not just pray for some good simaritan to tell of Jesus
So whos ready to stand up and tell people Of Jesus with me?
