I am asking for prayer on my divorce. It will be final on December 5, 2009. I do not want this to happen but if this is what God truly wants then let it be, but if not please help and guide me and my husband what to do to reconcile our differences no matter what has happened. In his name I pray. Amen.

pc1037,

God wants a married couple to remain married. I am sorry that this is happening and will pray for you.

This is my very first post on this prayer forum. I happened upon this site while looking for verses and I saw your prayer request. I felt so compelled to write you because I just went through the very same thing. My husband and I separated in February and he filed for a divorce in March. Soon after I found out he was with someone else (after we separated). It was not until April that I realized the terrible, horrible mistake I had made in separating. I returned to the Lord and repented. I walked with Him steadfastly for the next six months. I begged my husband to not follow through with the divorce. He wouldnt hear it. I tried everything! I asked everyone to pray... sometimes even perfect strangers at church! I cried a million tears. He would not hear me. God finally gave me a peace around the end of August. I was determined to be the best and most loving wife my husband would allow me to be and I was determined to be selfless. I prayed diligently that our marriage would not end in divorce. Nothing absolutely nothing gave me any hope that we would reconcile. Then on October 16th the day our divorce was final, I went to a prayer group at church and laid on the ground and just prayed. I went to my husbands house to deliver my daughters shirt and he then told me how sorry he was and to please forgive him. We went to the court the next day and they were able to reverse the divorce. This is an absolutely true story. That just happened. Please dont give up. God is faithful. I dont happen to ever believe that divorce is Gods will. We are sinners and your husband has his free will, but please continue to get on your knees and pray. I will too. Jeremiah 29:11.

I cannot fathom the pain that you must be suffering at this time. Know that God does not want this to happen to you. But there is also free will and man makes choices that are not of God's intentions. That is a difficulty in a fallen world.

But know that God has the ability to reconcile and heal all of us. That is what Jesus was all about. I pray that your relationship would be healed. But also that whatever happens that you will be strengthened in the Lord during this time. That you might seek Him through all things and that by doing so you will be a stronger person of faith.

Be sure to keep in the fellowship of other believers. Satan will try to use this as a time to destroy your heart. But know that God is much wiser and stronger and can handle any situation that you bring before Him.

God understands ... even when we don't.

In Christ...
